Who we are
Considered Code Pty Ltd ("Considered Code", "we", "us") is a software studio based in Sydney, Australia. We build apps for Shopify merchants and operate this website. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it — for visitors to this website and for merchants who use our apps.
This is the studio-level policy. Each app also has its own detailed policy on its own site — for The Daily Profit, see thedailyprofit.co/privacy. If anything here is unclear, email us at support@consideredcode.com and a human will answer.
Information we collect
On this website: if you contact us or join our newsletter, we collect your email address and anything you choose to include in your message. We don't run advertising trackers on this site.
In our apps: when you install one of our apps and connect your accounts, we collect only the data needed for the app to do its single job. Depending on the app and the connections you authorise, this may include:
- Shopify data — such as orders, products, refunds, shipping charges and fees, accessed through Shopify's APIs with the permissions you approve at install. Where an order carries them, this may include customer identifiers and customer tags; we use these only to compute your profit and to power filters you configure yourself (for example, excluding wholesale or staff orders from your own reporting) — never to contact or profile your customers.
- Advertising spend data — such as daily campaign spend totals. We plan to support Meta Ads, Google Ads and TikTok Ads; when you choose to connect one, we access only that account's spend data. If you use a spreadsheet import instead, we read only the sheet you explicitly share with the app — dates and amounts.
- Account details — your store name, contact email and settings for the app.
We do not collect your customers' names, email addresses, phone numbers, or payment card details, and we do not ask for permissions we don't need.
How we use it
We use the data described above for one purpose: to compute and show you your own numbers — for example, combining your sales, costs, fees and advertising spend into a daily profit figure delivered to you. We also use your contact details to send you the reports and service messages you signed up for, and to answer your support requests.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties for their marketing. We do not use it to build advertising profiles. Data obtained from an advertising platform you connect is used solely to display your own spend back to you within the app's reports, in accordance with that platform's terms — including the Google API Services User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements for any data received from Google APIs.
Storage and security
Data is stored with reputable cloud hosting and database providers, encrypted in transit and at rest. Access tokens for connected platforms are stored encrypted. Access is limited to the people who need it to operate and support the service. We keep only what the app needs to do its job, for as long as you use the app.
Our hosting and database providers are located in the United States, so your data may be stored and processed overseas. Where we transfer personal information outside Australia, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles; where the GDPR applies, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
Sharing with service providers
We use a small number of service providers to run our apps — such as cloud hosting and email delivery. They process data on our instructions and only as needed to provide their service to us. We don't share your data with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
Data retention and deletion
When you uninstall one of our apps, we delete the data connected to your store within 30 days, in line with Shopify's data removal requirements. You can also ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing support@consideredcode.com — we'll confirm when it's done.
If you disconnect an advertising account, we stop accessing that account immediately and delete the stored tokens for it.
Cookies
This website uses only the cookies necessary for it to function. Our apps may use cookies or similar technologies to keep you signed in and remember your settings. We don't use third-party advertising cookies.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If you're in a region with additional rights (such as the GDPR in the EU or UK), we'll honour those too. To exercise any of these rights, email support@consideredcode.com.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell app users directly by email.
